Lokomat – Robotic Gait Training

The Lokomat Walking Therapy is part of the recovery program at SCI-FIT in Pleasanton, Sacramento, Fresno, and Petaluma. SCI-FIT is one of the only centers in the San Francisco Bay Area that has Lokomat.

The Lokomat is a robotic machine built to provide intensive gait training for anyone with limited or impaired gait, such as adults who have suffered stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, or other neurological disorders which impair walking. The client is suspended in a harness while the individually-sized robotic legs are strapped onto the person. With the use of the harness, the client can be working in any degree of weight-bearing, from fully suspended “air-walking” to full weight bearing.

You can choose to engage in Lokomat training individually, or in addition to working one-on-one with our Neuro Exercise Therapists. To determine if you are a good candidate for Lokomat Training, schedule a free one-hour evaluation to be measured and try the machine.

Amadeo-Finger and Hand Rehabilitation

The AMADEO is the latest of clinically tried and tested robotic-and computer-assisted therapy devices for fingers and hands. It simulates the natural grasping motion and executes automated movement sequences. The AMADEO is the most advanced robotic-assisted finger-hand therapy device world-wide.

The Amadeo is a separate therapy SCIFIT offers.  Each session is 1/2 hour long per hand and 1 hour max.  To determine if you are a good candidate for the Amadeo, schedule a free 30 minute evaluation.

Robomedica-Gait Training (Pleasanton, CA)

The Robomedica combines state of the art computer robotics and an innovative design which has proven to be a groundbreaking therapy for those with neurological disorders.

Decades of research at UCLA pioneered by Dr. Edgerton and Dr. Harkema have shown significant results in spinal relearning with the use of body weight supported locomotor training.  This type of training after neurological injuries provides retraining of stepping, improved circulation, decreased incidence of soft tissue injuries, improved posture and an increased cardiovascular workout.

The Robomedica electronically controlled pneumatic weight support system allows a more normal center of mass movement during weight supported stepping.  SCI-FIT trainers have gone through the Robomedica, Inc. training program and are ready to get you walking.
